FI domain name policies
This page describes the practices and procedures we follow as an accredited domain name registrar. We operate as a FI domain registrar approved by Traficom and comply with the EU’s NIS2 directive requirements regarding security and data accuracy.
Ensuring the accuracy of registry data
The accuracy of the domain applicant’s and holder’s information is verified in several ways:
- Automatic checks: Traficom’s domain system verifies that the mandatory information entered during registration (e.g., phone number, email address) is technically valid and in the correct format.
- Manual checks and verification: The information recorded for the domain is based on the holder’s declarations. If discrepancies are detected, we may verify the details against public registers and, if necessary, request additional clarification or documents to confirm identity and/or company existence.
Through these methods, we aim to ensure that registry data is correct, up to date, and reliable.
Checking domain user information
You can verify the registered user information of a domain through Traficom’s WHOIS service:
Registrar transfer key and domain transfer key

- Registrar transfer key:

- You can request the registrar transfer key from our customer service at asiakaspalvelu@hurja.fi
- We will verify the legitimacy of the request and your identity if necessary before issuing the key
- The registrar transfer key will be delivered via a secure channel upon your request
- Domain transfer key:
- Required when transferring a domain to another company, i.e., when the domain holder registered in the domain information changes
- You can request the transfer key from our customer service at asiakaspalvelu@hurja.fi

The transfer key will be delivered to the email address listed in the domain’s registry information. Transfer keys are provided without delay, but no later than five (5) business days after your request.
Trademarks and protected names
Before registering a domain, it is important to ensure that the desired name does not infringe existing rights. You can check the following registers for information:
- The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) trademark database
- European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) trademark register
- eAmbrosia – EU register of protected product names
By using these services, you can confirm that your chosen domain name does not infringe trademark or protected name rights.
