Is your company ready to take a step toward the technologies of the future? Now is the perfect opportunity to do so through Business Finland’s Generative AI funding program, which supports SMBs and mid-cap companies in utilizing artificial intelligence.

This funding enables you to explore the potential of generative AI in the innovation of products, services or business models. Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects typically receive a grant covering 50% of the project costs, and the funding is aimed at projects that seek to investigate the suitability of generative AI technologies for solving an existing problem, thereby helping companies achieve an international competitive advantage.

PoC projects typically range in size from 100,000 to 200,000 euros. Business Finland does not fund projects with total costs of less than 60,000 euros.

Through PoC projects, companies can test how generative AI can improve existing products or services, or even develop entirely new concepts. In addition, computing support from the LUMI supercomputer can be requested for the project if the research project requires significant computing capacity.

Important questions to consider before submitting your application

Before you submit your application, please ensure you have clear answers to the following questions:

• What is the problem to be solved?
• What are the implications for the applicant’s international business operations and international competitive advantage?
• Which generative AI technologies are being used?
• What other possible solutions are there or are currently being developed?
• What data and language models are going to be used to train the AI?
• How are the results tested?
• What are the specific and measurable objectives of a successful research project?
• How are the results of a successful study put to use?
• Defining the project in concrete terms: what sort of work packages does the project consist of?
• the company is eligible for funding
